We do not impose one. The practical ceiling is your device's memory, since the whole job runs locally — a few hundred pages is comfortable on an ordinary laptop or phone.

Does merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied across intact, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. The merged file is roughly the sum of the originals in size.
